Inspired by the Vietnamese áo dài, the straight cut tunics are more commonly known as kurtees in India. Just like the áo dài, a kimkara tunic is designed to have a figure-hugging fit at the top and a long flowy bottom with high slits, almost to your waist to accentuate those feminine curves. This particular piece has the bamboo leaves in shades of autumn, a reproduction of the sketch in the front and the unique neckline with silk tassels.

One of my favorite sketches of Upasana. I went on to combine the lotus with another one of her sketches featuring bamboo leaves. It was a challenge, albeit a pleasant one, to match the two in the shades of autumn.
